Vasilyevsky Island Cruise & Ferry Port Development Plan

Client: Marine Façade
Location: St. Petersburg, Russia

Collaborating closely with Marine Façade, the private entity responsible for constructing the port, BA spearheaded the development of a comprehensive cruise facility master plan for the
Port of St. Petersburg, Russia. This master plan outlined the design of a seven-cruise ship port and ferry complex, a visionary project aimed at rejuvenating the city’s waterfront and cementing St. Petersburg’s position as a frontrunner in the region’s cruise and tourism sectors.

As part of the overall strategy, BA’s efforts included conducting a cruise market analysis, evaluating the potential for a mixed-use commercial center with retail components, and assessing the economic impact. BA also undertook thorough personnel and operational assessments to ensure the proposed developments met current demands and were scalable for future growth.

This initiative is a key component of a larger project aimed at reclaiming 1,100 acres from the Baltic Sea to support the strategic expansion of
the City of Saint Petersburg over the next two decades. Serving as a blueprint for enhancing the city’s maritime infrastructure, this plan promises to boost the city’s appeal to tourists and residents alike, fostering economic growth and promoting sustainable development in one of Russia’s most iconic and historically rich cities.
