Bermello Ajamil & Partners (BA) was commissioned to provide the master plan for Dubai Maritime City (DMC), a 230-hectare area of reclaimed land intended to serve as the new home for JADAF Dubai, the Arabian Gulf’s oldest and most distinguished ship repair and industrial marine yard and the new center for maritime business and commerce.

The project incorporates the development of over 45 mixed-use residential and office tower projects, and it will contain seven distinct districts: an industrial precinct essential to the uniqueness of the mixed-use maritime environment, an academic quarter catering to marine engineering and naval science, the maritime center, harbor offices, the marina district, Harbor Residences and Support. The total GFA for the project is planned at 3.2 million square meters with facilities anticipated to support a population of over 125,000. DMC is the first purpose-built maritime center and is expected to be fully operational by 2012.
