Born in New York City to Cuban immigrant parents, Rolando Mendoza was inspired by the vibrant and iconic landmarks of his childhood, such as Central Park and Yankee Stadium. Relocating to Miami, he embraced the rich cultural surroundings, which further fueled his passion for the arts. His followed this inclination and earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Florida A&M then a Master of Architecture and Design & Computation from MIT.
Professionally, he has collaborated with renowned firms like Morphosis Architects and Disney Imagineering, contributing to high-profile projects across the United States and abroad in Mexico, Hong Kong, and Italy. Notably, he deployed new Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) strategies in the construction of an award-winning theme park in Shanghai, China. An enterprising leader, Rolando fosters creative collaboration, with teams and clients alike, which continues to push the boundaries of the built environment.

The New World Center in Miami Beach, owned by the New World Symphony, is a state-of-the-art venue for performances, education, and creative activities. Designed as a global hub for innovation, it integrates technology with music education, hosting concerts, rehearsals, recordings, broadcasts, and webcasts.
SHANGHAI DISNEY RESORT - Design & Delivery Executive Walt Disney Imagineering
The 963-acre Shanghai Disney Resort, one of the world's largest, features Shanghai Disneyland, two hotels, Disneytown, and extensive green spaces. Opened on June 16, 2016, with a $5.5 billion budget, it exemplifies Disney's commitment to magical experiences and cultural exchange, highlighting the brand's enduring international appeal.
SAN FRANCISCO FEDERAL BUILDING - Project Designer/Computational Lead With Morphosis
Completed in 2007, the 605,000 sq. ft. San Francisco Federal Building is celebrated for its innovative, sustainable design. Its offset volumes and perforated aluminum louvers manage sunlight and ventilation, while photovoltaic panels and rainwater systems enhance efficiency. The building has won the AIA Honor Award and the GSA Design Excellence Award for its architectural and environmental achievements.
KLEIN RESIDENCE QUITO ECUADOR - Project Designer Wood & Zapata Architects
The Klein residence is an 8,000-square-foot private house in the Miravalle Valley, with stunning views of the Andes Mountains, featuring two main volumes with a terrace and pool extending over a cliff. As the lead designer, I focused on sculpting and form finding to create a dynamic home that also showcases the client's extensive art collection from Africa and South America.
WAYNE LYMAN MORSE US COURTHOUSE - Project Designer
The Wayne Lyman Morse United States Courthouse in Eugene, Oregon, is a 270,000 sq. ft. modern federal courthouse. Completed in 2006, it features six courtrooms, judges' chambers, and sustainable design. Named after Senator Morse, it boasts steel ribbons and offers mountain views, making it a downtown landmark.
