BA, in association with local engineers GIBB Mauritius Ltd., designed a new 75,350 SF, two-story cruise terminal. This new facility stands as a testament to modern design and functionality and is one of the largest of its kind in the region, with a capacity to welcome up to 4,000 passengers daily.
The facility is ingeniously adaptable, capable of handling the processing of two ships concurrently. This flexibility extends to the embarkation and disembarkation processes, which are facilitated by automated, modular moving wall systems, ensuring smooth immigration flows. Additionally, the terminal boasts a comprehensive ground transportation area designed to efficiently accommodate both homeport and port-of-call operations.

Beyond its primary function, the terminal offers versatility; on days without cruise ship activity, its check-in and waiting areas transform into a dynamic space for performances, events, and exhibitions. This design strategy not only enhances the terminal’s utility but also anticipates the future trajectory of the cruise industry, taking into account the potential for global expansion and the increasing size of cruise vessels.
