PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Port of Seattle Pier 66 Terminal for Norwegian Cruise Line, Seattle, Washington – Project Manager.

BA designed and expanded and integrated cruise functions into the existing Pier 66 complex to meet the needs of NCL’s largest Alaska-based cruise vessel. The team recast the pier into a multi-use facility that features restaurants, marinas, museum, and a state-of-the-art conference center. Design challenges included limited transportation access, preservation of sight lines and public access ways and integration of cruise facilities with present tenants. BA’s plan established specific design parameters, including operation modeling and alternative design approaches and a two-phase development program representing the development of the primary cruise terminal embarkation and disembarkation areas and the integration of retail and support spaces within the complex. The upgrade of Pier 66 was completed in May 2017.

Cruise Terminal 3 for Carnival Cruise Line, Canaveral Port Authority, Brevard County, Florida – Project Manager.

BA designed and delivered the new 200,000 SF in 2020 and first used in August 2021 for their newest ship, Mardi Gras, the first North American-based LNG powered ship. BAs Team provided architecture, interior design, MEP/FP and structural engineering, landscape architecture, permitting, and construction administration. BA worked with port and cruise line stakeholders to develop the overall terminal vision to meet the needs of a 6,500-passenger vessel. The facility includes an 1,800-space parking garage, separate luggage drop building, warehouse, and site work including improvements to George King Boulevard. This is the largest single project the Canaveral Port Authority has ever constructed.

MSC Ocean Cay Marine Reserve, Bahamas - Architectural Designer.

BA developed and designed a private destination island in the Bahamas for MSC Cruises. Design services included planning and sizing for water demand and all utilities including a Reverse Osmosis water treatment plant, wastewater treatment, sludge disposal, water distribution lines, fire protection, several pump stations and force main, deep injection wells for brine and final effluent, reuse distribution system for landscaping irrigation, solid waste disposal, architectural landscaping, construction documents, cost estimates and scheduling, and construction management. This 95-acre island consists of 6 separate beaches, with 11,400 feet of beachfront, a 2,000-seat amphitheater, a Bahamian village shopping area with restaurants, bars, two lagoon water features, and bike paths. Additionally, the island has a spa and wellness area and private cabanas.
