BA was selected to develop a private destination island in Bahamas for MSC Cruises. The 95 acre island will consist of 6 separate beaches, 11,400 feet of beach front, a 2,000 seat amphitheater, a Bahamian village shopping area with: restaurants, bars, zip line attraction, a lagoon water feature, pavilion and bike paths. Additionally, the island will have a spa and wellness area, private bungalows and a massage hut.
BA developed design concepts for a Cruise Ship Terminal and Northeast Wharf Plaza (public park) constructed on an 8-acre pier site comprised by the existing Pier 27 and the adjacent vehicular area next to Pier 29. BA was able to effectively contrast the concepts of alteration vs. new construction from operational, capital cost and long-term maintenance perspectives to allow the City to develop a right-sized budget and schedule. Through the use of passenger circulation simulation, we were also able to minimize the amount of buildable area required.
BA is currently preparing the new long term master and strategic plan for Port Canaveral, including all of its cruise, cargo, public and commercial facilities, commercial fishing and in a port first, a new “space port” to be used for the resupply, and recovery of rockets used by commercial companies at Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. The plan includes the development of 3 new cruise terminals, consolidation of cargo areas, new bulk energy area, redevelopment
BA was commissioned by RCCL as the architect of record for the new Terminal A at PortMiami. BA is assisting RCCL and PortMiami in identifying responsibilities associated with each of the costs for the development of the project. Services include construction administration, construction documentation, design concepts, and site planning that would determine the location of the terminal berth, roads, curbside, other transportation features and parking. Terminal A, would house an angular, glass center and a connected parking garage with about 1,000 parking spaces at the northeastern side of the port.
