James R. Bowers is a Florida-registered architect with more than 20 years of architectural experience with a variety of project types. His past experience includes maritime cruise terminals, mixed-use residential developments, lower and higher education, corporate and transportation projects for both public and private clients. Mr. Bowers has extensive experience in project management, design, document coordination, and construction management, in addition to code and specification research. As Project Architect, James will ensure the project is designed and built according to your stated requirements. He will be your day-to-day contact and will be responsible for budget and schedule management, consultant document coordination, and status reporting.
James was responsible for the day-to-day deliverables and client interaction including producing the conceptual layout and design plan for the facility and accurately assembling a complete portfolio to be used as the tender document package in a Design/Build format. Commissioned by the Hong Kong Tourism Commission, HKSAR, the Terminal is a state-of-the-art facility capable of handling two Oasis class ships and positioned Hong Kong as a leading Asia cruise hub when it was opened in June 2013.
As part of the Terminal 25 delivery for Celebrity Cruises James was responsible for the interior refurbishing, including the waiting area aesthetics, VIP lounge, grand atrium, and 15,000-sf baggage and 10,000-sf canopy addition. When completed in 2019 the fast-track terminal project complied with all county and life safety codes as well as with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The award-winning Terminal B accommodates ships of up to 5,000 passengers, and features new technology to support faster and more efficient embarkation and disembarkation processes, as well as expedited security screening and luggage check-in. The project features a new parking garage with a valet parking area and direct access to the terminal and VIP lounge. The project is constructed to LEED Gold standards, focusing on innovation in design and terminal operation to create a platform that will optimize energy performance, indoor air quality, water efficiencies and maximize the use of local materials and resources. Innovative lighting, inviting indoor and outdoor waiting areas, and other guestcentric elements that enhance the overall passenger experience.
