Bermello Ajamil & Partners designed an elementary school in the Latin Quarter suggesting a Hispanic architectural character and urban ambiance befitting the area. This three-story elementary school serves 885 students on a 3.25-acre lot. Riverside’s central organizing element is a spacious courtyard, a cafetorium, administration area, and music and art laboratories, all open to the central space. Bright colors enhance a positive school-day experience.
The site topography is unique. Grade elevations vary from 14.79 feet at the southwest corner to 4.82 feet on the northeast. The school’s design takes advantage of the topography by incorporating a required parking facility and service areas at the low end of the site beneath the two-story educational facility.
