Client: Multiple Users Location: Marina South, Singapore Size of Project: 275,000 SF Construction Cost: $500 M Completion date: 2012 Unique Features:
Marina Bay Cruise Centre was opened in 2012 by the government of Singapore. BA, in association with RSP Architects Planners & Engineers (Pte) Ltd. of Singapore, designed and provided construction administration of this 320,000-SF, $500-million multi-story terminal facility and infrastructure to accommodate a new generation of mega cruise ships. The design incorporates a two-berth terminal with ancillary commercial space along the terminal building and a ground transportation center located on a new finger pier with the capacity to handle the Oasis-class vessels.
The pier can simultaneously process two vessels or 8,200 total passengers making it one of the most efficient terminals ever built. This modern and sophisticated terminal addresses long-term growth in cruise operations for Singapore and serves as a catalyst for expanding Marina South’s waterfront opportunities. Design parameters required processing of each disembarking passenger from ship to shore including full immigration and customs processing, baggage claim and 100% security screening within 30 minutes, setting a new standard for passenger processing.
