Project Manager – Port and Marine Engineering ($110K – $175K depending on experience)

Bermello Ajamil & Partners, Inc. (BA) has an immediate position available at its Miami office for a Ports and Marine Engineering Project Manager that has the ability to provide technical and management leadership to multiple marine and waterfront projects. This individual will manage a team of multi-disciplinary members of architects, engineers, and planners and will work on port projects spanning the globe. General duties include management of various project discipline leads, design and preparation of construction documents, providing project leadership and communicating with clients and colleagues, and supporting the Director of Marine and Port Engineering in business development tasks.

  • Reviewing complete projects for quality and conformity, and approving work performed by other engineers.
  • Independently applying extensive and diversified theoretical principles in the field of marine engineering.
  • Assisting upper-level management as a technical specialist, advisor, or expert.
  • Supervising all necessary staff to complete assignments.
  • Creating and approving scope, budgets and schedules for projects or assignments.
  • Preparing proposals and collaborating with the marketing team.
  • Representing the company in communications, client meetings, in public functions, and conferences.
  • Has signing and sealing authority when assigned by management.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) designation and have qualifications in place to apply for license in Florida.
  • 8+ years of marine engineering design experience.
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, L-Pile, PYWALL or equivalent software experience.
  • Able to work on and lead major projects or several projects of moderate scope with complex features.
  • Capable of applying advanced engineering techniques related to the practice of marine engineering.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.

Junior Civil Engineer  ($80,000 – $100,000 depending on experience)

BA has an immediate position available at its Coral Gables office to work on infrastructure projectsincluding streets, storm drains, sewers, waterworks, and other public works as well as private projects under the direct supervision of licensed civil engineers. Skilled technician with extensive familiarity of mathematical principles of engineering and design. Will work on a variety of projects and may design and engineer elements related to commercial, municipal, land development and other project types.   • Prepare plans and specifications for entire projects or smaller components of large-scale undertakings.
  • Visit sites to take measurements or resolve contractor delays on behalf of lead engineer.
  • Work closely with lead engineer to develop project schedules and deliverable timelines.
  • Provide budget oversight and develop cost estimates for materials and personnel based on documents and project plans.
  • Make periodic site visits to ensure that projects are completed according to specifications and construction codes.
  • Prepare reports about site conditions and progress and report findings to the lead civil engineer, technicians, and other team members.
  • Provide support by gathering data for permit applications, presenting documentation or blueprints to government officials and maintain records of change orders.

  • Education – Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • EIT designation preferred; PE registration a plus
  • Experience – 5+ years of Civil Engineering design experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D required.

  • Experience with GIS, drainage storm modeling and WaterCAD modeling software a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
